Self Care as a Sacred Journey of Personal Growth

By Ryan Conston

In the second installment of this self-care trilogy, I invite you to celebrate the power of dreaming again, of embracing solitude, and of speaking possibility to yourself.

For those seeking spiritual and personal growth, self-care is an essential component of their journey. By engaging in practices such as journaling, affirmations, or participating in spiritual retreats, they can nurture their souls and deepen their connection with their higher selves. Embracing self-care as a lifelong journey allows them to constantly evolve and expand their spiritual horizons.

This act of self-care reveals a beautiful benefit – the potential of meaning-making. As life’s journey progresses, dreams often stand by the wayside, overshadowed by the pragmatism of age and reason. But, dear listener, let me assure you, the golden years are not a distant memory, nor are they merely a future hope. They are like a blank canvas, a chance to reconnect with your inner child and unlock your creativity.

Take a moment to imagine and reimagine, to let curiosity roam freely within your mind. Often, self-care is a means of tapping into the abundant source of inspiration that lies within ourselves, rather than seeking it externally. Continuous learning, a journey into the realms of your interests, becomes a beacon lighting the path to living a life that flourishes even after moments of self-care.

Take a moment to ponder this: Your sense of purpose, your values, your creativity – these are delicate treasures granted to you by One greater than yourself.  Lean into these  endowments, and witness the transformation they can bring to the rest of your life. Make sure to carve out some quiet moments for self-reflection, as they can lead to deep revelation.

Believe me, those who genuinely care about you will not only support but also celebrate your choice to take care of yourself. They appreciate the bravery required to invest in yourself and grow into an improved version of who you are. Always keep in mind, dear listener, that you are a beautiful work in progress.

Now, let’s talk about the conversations you have with yourself during these moments of solitude. Your self-speech not only matters – it literally is matter. In ways we often cannot understand, the words we utter in the sacred space of the mind shape our thoughts, emotions, actions, and sense of being. Let’s make these words empowering.

Whether you find yourself in the seasoned years of life, navigating the challenges of work, or engrossed in the pursuits of academia, the essence of self-care remains timeless. Dear friends, may this message inspire thoughts, words, and actions filled with potential for what lies ahead.
