At the end of January, I attended the MacDaddy competition put on by VegWorcester. This is an annual fundraiser for the Worcester VegFest, and I have attended every year (except for last year, because they didn’t have one). I am always amazed at the creativity some people come up with when they cook. There were 26 different entries and most of them tasted different! Imagine that! 26 vegan mac ‘n’ cheese dishes!
There was a huge crowd of people, like me, there to be the “tasters” and vote on a winner. This year, I had the hardest time choosing. In past years, it has always been a clear choice for me.
Anyway, this event got me thinking: “we need to do a similar event in Metrowest”—not the same, but along the same lines. I first thought about soup. That could be fun, but then after speaking to Debbie Clark, who had always wanted to do a chili cook-off, we came up with the idea to do a Plant Based Chili Cook-off. I can’t wait to see what people come up with! And this time…even I will be entering a dish. Boy, have I come a long way!
